It's been a while

As we can all see, it has been a while since i've posted something on here, so I hope you have not given up on reading this blog.

While reading my bible this morning I came accross a verse that I'm sure you have heard before, but maybe you haven't. It's found in 1 Samuel 16:7 where God replies to Samuel by saying "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." In this piece of scripture, Samuel was told to go and annoint one of Jesse's sons as the next King. We know David is the one who was chosen by God, but when Samuel saw Jesse's first son, Eliab, he assumed that because of his appearance he must definitely be the King.

We live in a world that is so caught up in the outside appearance, which then causes people to work so hard on their appearance. Don't get me wrong, I am someone who wants to look good, and be well dressed, but what happens to often is that people get so caught up with that that they forget about their heart and how their heart looks. What good is it if we look good outwardly but the inside is nothing to be desired.

I believe that one way we can improve our youth ministry is by having our heart in check and looking and not get so caught up with the look of things.
