About Christianity…

Ever felt like something was missing from your life? Maybe you've asked yourself why you are on this Earth or now that you're here you'd like to know what your purpose is in this life! The Bible says in Genesis 1 that on the sixth day of creation God created mankind in His own image and that it was good. He created us to have a strong, loving relationship with Him. What happened next? Well…God created us with a free will and we decided on something else than what God had in store for us and created something called sin. The bad things that we do that can hurt God, ourselves and those around us.

So… God, being the most amazing person that He is, created a way for us to make it right, but it had a big time cost. It cost God his one and only Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus died an ugly and cruel death on a cross to pay the price of the sin we created. The price was death! In Romans 6:23 the Bible says, "the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." You see only Jesus could pay this price for us and He did it out of love for us! John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Well, you've heard about how God loved us so much He both created us, and saved us from our sins! Amazing! But wait! Maybe you've been thinking that Christianity is just a bunch of rules you have to follow causing you to miss out on all the fun things in life. Nothing could be further from the truth! The Bible says in John 10:10 that, "the thief (the devil) comes to steal kill and destroy; I (Jesus) have come that they (us) may have life, and have it to the full." You see, God created the Bible for us to teach us about the best possible way to live our lives. When we follow what the Bible says on how to live our lives we'll see that we will live a life that fills us with peace and frees us from any guilt.

If you are in that place of emptiness or feeling like "what is the point of it all anyway?" You can find satisfaction. It will be a spiritual satisfaction, a true and right one. The way is simple.

1. Admit that you have sin in your life and need Jesus to rescue you.
2. Believe in your heart who Jesus says He is. The Savior of the world who was sent by the love of God and who loves you personally.
3. Believe it in your heart and confess it with your mouth and that's it! You are now a follower of Christ!

The Bible says, "taste and see that the Lord is good, blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him". God loves you so much. So much that He gave His one and only Son to die in your place so that you could have life. The choice now is yours. What will you choose? What have you got to lose? Your very soul! What could you gain? Eternity with God and the best life here on Earth. It's all up to you now.

About Oasis YM…

Oasis YM exists to reach and serve the youth in Orleans. We are dedicated to showing youth the amazing truth, hope and life about living in a right relationship with Jesus. We want to strengthen this relationship through encouraging, praying, teaching and meeting with other youth in our community.

Our purpose statement is simply this: Oasis YM exists... to renew and strengthen relationship with God through discipleship by encouraging and teaching students to love, honor and worship God with their lives according to the Word of God and to mobilize equipped students to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with others.

Relationship: connecting believing youth and non-believing youth, providing a place for them to meet and grow together in their relationship with God.

Discipleship: highlight the importance of the God's Word (the Bible) by making it the foundation of all our time together.

Worship: teaching youth to honor God by living a life that shows how much we love Him.

Mobilize: equipping youth with practical ways to do what God has called them to do.

Share: teaching our youth how to share the good news about Jesus with their friends.

This is the heartbeat of Oasis YM. We know how many youth in Orleans need the hope and life that comes with understanding who Jesus really is, what He's done for them and how much He loves them. Our purpose is to connect youth to God!

About me…

I grew up in Terrace, a small town in northern British Columbia. My Mom and Dad still live in BC and I have one sister who lives in California. I love spending time with my beautiful wife Teo, who I've been married to for almost 4 years and our new born baby girl, Hannah!

About me and Jesus…

I lived in Terrace most of my life, but I did move away to Vancouver Island for a short time after my parents got divorced when I was 13 years old. In those four years I struggled with a lot of anger and hurt at what had happened to my family. Why did this have to happen? I even went so far as to drop out of school. Life was not going well. My parents were still there for me though. I had a mom and dad who loved me yet I was still hurting. When I was 16 I moved back to my hometown to live with my dad for a year. After this time my mom and sister moved back to Terrace as well, where my sister got involved in a youth group. Her life was completely changed and I noticed it! To make a long story short I wanted the same change in my life and made the choice to give my life to Jesus. Since then, my life has been completely changed and transformed by my understanding of what Jesus has done for me. I have a peace in my life, a hope and a sense of purpose that I never had before.

About me and Ottawa…

Just before I completed my four years of Bible College in British Columbia, I found out that there was an opportunity to ministry in Ottawa through some friends of ours from college who were from Community. After a lot of prayer and thought we made the choice to come to Community to serve in the Youth Department. God has been doing amazing things in our lives ever since! We really love Ottawa and we're glad to be able to work with the youth at Oasis YM.
